Description

CULTILENE ROCKWOOL SLAB OPTIMAXX 100 X 15 X 7.5 CM

Cultilène's substrate slabs (potentially) have a high water retention capacity that offers excellent controllability. The slabs can also be re-saturated quickly and completely. Their excellent controllability means you can vary the moisture content in every cultivation stage and in every season, within a bandwidth of your own choice.

The advantage of Rockwool is that it has a great capability to hold water and contains a lot of air. Rockwool is also light, compact and relatively inexpensive. Rockwool (mineral wool or stone wool) is therefore the most used culture medium in horticulture. Yet it is not easy to grow on Rockwool, some knowledge is required. Rockwool itself has a high pH, it is therefore important to water it well with a low pH (5.1 to 5.5). Make sure the pH in the slab is not less than 5.0. This prevents that the wool collapses and loses its elasticity. Rockwool lasts, when well treated, a very long time.

Cultilene growing slabs come wrapped in UV resistant polyethylene sleeves for ease of use. The special structure of Cultilene vegetable and flower substrate slabs provides a uniform environment allowing plant roots to rapidly explore all the available growing volume for a quick start. Water and nutrient distribution is also more uniform and provides a larger effective rooting volume than previously possible.

Cultilene rockwool substrate slabs are available for vegetable cultivation and floriculture. The differences between the slabs are minimal – both with respect to firmness, moisture content and dimensions. The durability of these slabs, moreover, places them in a class of their own.

The slab method is most commonly used by commercial farmers to grow larger, high productivity plants (tomatoes or cucumbers) and large scale flower production. Drop irrigation is the preferred method to feed plants at regular intervals.

Advantages OptimaXX:

  • A slab with a faster response to water content with good EC control;
  • Excellent reactivity to changing growth circumstances;
  • Very even water and EC distribution;
  • Formerly known as X-Fibre.

These slabs come in clearly marked biodegradable UV resistant poly sleeves. The poly sleeves have several functions;

  • Comfort in handling.
  • Preventing algae growth.
  • Preventing roots and diseases from moving easily from slab to slab.
  • Minimizing evaporation.
  • Enabling full saturation of the slabs before use.
  • Controlling/directing the water-run off from the slabs.
