Characteristics

Color temperature

The color temperature is usually measured in kelvins (K). According to Wien's law, the wavelength of the emitted light decreases with increasing color temperature. Therefore blue light (short wavelength) has a higher color temperature than reddish light. Strangely enough light with a lower color temperature is experienced as "warmer" than light with a higher color temperature.

2100 Kelvin thus tells us something about the color temperature of the light spectrum. 2100 K stands for red light which the plants need during the blooming period. During the growth period, the plant requires bright light (light spring) this is the color 4000 Kelvin

The whiter the light, the higher the degrees kelvin.

Some typical color temperatures are:

• 1500 K Candlelight;
• 2680 K 40 W bulb;
• 3000 K 200 W bulb;
• 3200 K Sunrise / Sunset;
• 3400 K Tungsten lamp;
• 3400 K 1 hour from dusk until morning lost;
• 5000-4500 K Xenon lamp / light arc;
• 5500 K sunny daylight around noon;
• 5500-5600 K Electronic flash;
• 6500-7500 K Overcast sky;
• 9000-12000 K Blue sky.
